Located about 25 km West of Fethiye, Butterfly Valley is an exceptional earthly paradise. It boasts a natural setting with no establishment. Butterfly Valley is a valley of 2 large looming mountains that drop straight into the turquoise waters down below. The beach has become a popular spot for backpackers from all over the world to come over and stay at the campsite That’s why you may often see tents pitched and plenty of people lazing about along the beach. There no land access to Butterfly Valley, however, it is accessible only by boat. Butterfly valley is also a place where all the blue cruise tours stop on their route to Kekova. During the spring season, a great number of colorful butterflies gather in the valley to reproduce. They remain in the bushes in the valley during the rainy season. At the end of May, the butterflies make their appearance in a beautiful form and move continuously to higher humid regions, following the waterways
The name of the valley derived from 82 endemic species of butterflies found in the canyon. Located on the skirts of Mount Babadag, the cove of Butterfly Valley is a conservation area by the Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Board. Thanks to its location and being not accessible easily It has mostly stayed safe from the effects of mass tourism Today, the valley management also runs Ecological agriculture and ecological tourism programs to keep this beautiful region as it is.
From Oludeniz Beach, there are regular boat shuttles in-between Oludeniz and Butterfly Valley that you can get to the valley in the day time. Most people are keen on a short visit to Butterfly Valley on our Fethiye-Olympos blue cruises. Butterfly Valley is home to several waterfalls. You can follow those small hiking trails into the valley where you can be awarded some water streams and bathe under their coolness. If you are lucky enough, you may see some of the 82 different species of butterflies resting on the rocks along the way.
There are also many arts and culture workshops that run through the season, yoga programs, and there has also been the occasional festival held here too.
