MARMARIS

The history of Marmaris is not known clearly but archeological researches showing that it was part of the Carian civilization from the 6th century. The castle was completely restored in the 16th century by the Ottoman Sultan, Suleyman the Magnificent, to serve as a base for his campaign against Rhodes. After renovations took place in the 1980’s it was converted into a museum which has lots of galleries and exhibition halls.
